    The EU/Russia Industrialists Roundtable (IRT) met in St. Petersburg on 18 and 19 June in the framework of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF). Topics of discussion included the role of the EAEU as a new global economic player and its cooperation with business and other stakeholders.

    The EU/Russia Industrialists Roundtable (IRT) met in Moscow on 19-20 October 2014 to discuss the bilateral economic relations between the EU and Russia. At the meeting, the IRT agreed that a closer dialogue and cooperation between business and governmental bodies from Russia and the EU is needed.

    St. Petersburg, May 23, 2014. The Co-chairmen of the EU/Russia Industrialists’ Round Table (IRT) Anatoly Chubais, Chairman of RUSNANO, and Jørgen Rasmussen, President of Carlsberg Group, met today at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF). During the meeting, a number of topics were discussed, one of the key ones being the importance of retaining and further fostering a favorable business climate to promote effective interaction between the business communities of Russia and the EU, despite the difficult external situation.

    The IRT is a business platform, gathering leaders of companies from the EU and Russia for constructive discussions on the business climate in EU and Russia. The IRT was established in 1997 upon the suggestion of the political leaders meeting at an EU-Russia Summit with the aim of providing a platform for business a dialogue, which fosters discussions on bilateral economic relations between both business communities.

    IRT welcomes new Russian Council member Alexander Bychkov, President-Director General of  IC RUSS-INVEST, located in Moscow, Russian Federation. From 1992 he is responsible for development of business and general management of the diversified company in the next areas: brokerage, corporate finance, financial advisory and asset management, venture capital projects.     On the 27th of November shepras of IRT Council members held a working meeting in Brussels to discuss joint IRT recommendations to the EU Russia Summit participants, which will take place in January 2014. Key issues for discussion were the Customs Union and the EU, new agreement between Russia and the EU, introduction of a visa-free regime, Russia's accession to the OECD.

Chairman the Center of High Technologies "ChimRar" Andrey Ivashchenko will participate in the panel discussion "The creation and development of innovative technology infrastructure at universities"

CEO of InfoWatch Group Natalya Kaspersky will participate in a panel discussion "Cybersecurity: How to protect innovations from criminals"

In the Alexander Hall of the Grand Kremlin Palace's new ambassador and head of the European Union Delegation to Russia Vygaudas Ušackas presented his credentials to the President of Russia Vladimir Putin. President of Russia noted the interest in the development of multifaceted ties with the European Union, he said that 50 % of Russia's foreign trade (more than $ 400 billion) goes to the European Union countries, and expressed the hope not only for the continuation of multifaceted ties with the European Union, but also for the "formation of a single economic and humanitarian space from the Atlantic to the Pacific".

 

New ambassadors of 19 countries participated in the ceremony.

On the 22 of October IRT co-chairmen Anatoly Chubais (Rusnano Director General) and Jorgen Rasmussen (Carlsberg Group Chairman) met in Moscow. It  was the first meeting between IRT leaders after the election of Jorgen Rasmussen to the post of IRT co-chair from the EU side.

Strategic prospects of further EU-Russia economic relations and joint recommendations to the next EU- Russia Summit were discussed. IRT co-chairmen have once again confirmed the important role of the business community creating favorable business climate in the relations between Russia and the European Union.

Russian IRT Co-chairman Anatoly Chubais spoke on the 21 of March 2013 at the International conference “Russia and the European Union: partnership and its potential”. Mr Chubais presented his new vision of EU Russia relations.
